Veteran David T. is now a graduate from Interstate and a new driver for Werner Enterprises. We are so proud of him. He asked some really great questions and soaked in all of the information. He came in using his Post 9/11 GI Bill and now he's on his way to a new career with Werner.

Scott came into school looking for a new career and that's exactly what he's getting. He started in mid-October and started his new career at Knight Transportation in mid December.  Scott completed his training period with Knight with flying colors by mid January and is now taking delivery of his own truck.

Truck drivers are getting America's biggest pay raises

Truckers are hitting the pedal on their paychecks.

Truck drivers' wages grew 7.8% in October, compared to a year ago -- the biggest jump among 60 common professions analyzed by Glassdoor.com, a job-search website. It's also far better than the overall wage growth for all jobs of 2.8%.

ELD RULE CHALLENGE DISMISSED BY COURT OF APPEALS

Last week we reported a story on the OOWNER‐OPERATOR INDEPENDENT DRIVERS ASSOCIATION, INC lawsuit against the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  This week the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit dismissed the OOIDA's challenge of FMCSA's ELD mandate.

Owner Operator Association fights ELD

The Owner Operators Independent Drivers Association has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration trying to stop the mandatory requirement to use Electronic Logging Devices.  Here are the issues that OOIDA has brought in their suit:

I. THE FINAL RULE DOES NOT IMPLEMENT THE STATUTORY MANDATE TO RECORD A DRIVER’S HOURS OF SERVICE AND CHANGES IN DUTY STATUS AUTOMATICALLY 

2 THE FINAL RULE FAILS TO ENSURE THAT ELDS ARE NOT USED TO HARASS DRIVERS NOT NECESSARY TO FURTHER THE REGULATORY SCHEME

CVTA in Las Vegas

Bill attended the Commercial Vehicle Training Association Fall Conference in Las Vegas last week.  

The new Federal Entry Level Driver Training Rules were the main focus of the meetings. The CVTA is working on developing a training curriculum to meet these new standards.

Advanced Training Systems displayed a new version of their powerfull simulators.  Hopefully Interstate Truck Driving School will be getting some updated systems by the end of the year.
