Conrad Jorgenson 2nd at Madison in ASA Midwest Tour Race

Posted in Quality Racers

Conrad Jorgenson drove the #83 Interstate Truck Driving School Super Truck to a second place finish in Madison on May 2nd (that’s Conrad on the right in the pic above).  Conrad started 6th and worked his way to the lead after 6 laps and continued to lead until a late race caution on lap 32 of 40.  When the green flag flew Jerry Woods got by and Conrad did not have enough time to catch him.  For more information about Conrad check out his website at www.brothersjorgensonracing.com

Bill Collins drove the #63 Interstate Truck Driving School Super Truck to 8th place at Madison.  Bill had not planned to race the truck since it does not meet all of the ASA rules.   Bill brought it along to put on display but when the organizers did not get the number of entries they hoped for, they asked Bill to run the truck.  Bill had never drvien at Madison International Speedway.  He had never driven this race truck.  When he arrived on Saturday afternoon paractice was over.  So with no practice, Bill jumped in the truck and qualified 8th, just 2 tenths of a second slower than his team-mate Conrad Jorgenson.

The organizors told Bill not to finish up front so he simply drove the race during the race as a practice session and experimented with different lines on the track.  When the checkered flag flew Bill was 8th, same position as he started.

“I had a really good seat watching Conrad lead the race”  Bill commented later.  “I must admit I was disappointed he lost the race due to a very poor restart by the officials”.

You can see all the action for yourself on Fox Sports on Saturday May 15th.  Check local listings but most cable providers will be airing the race at 11:30 am just before the Twins game.

Bill will be running the #63 truck at Elko Speedway (www.elkospeedway.com) this Saturday night (May 8th) in the NASCAR Big 8 Sportsman Division.  The ASA Midwest Tour (www.asamidwesttour.com) will be racing at Elko on June 5th when Bill will run the #63 and Andy Jirik will drive the #83 truck.

Truck Tour Schedule Announced: Includes Three Televised Events

By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Thursday, March 18, 2010) The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and Grandstay® Residential Suites Hotels welcomes Interstate Truck Driving School (ITDS) as a 2010 general series sponsor for all divisions. The partnership between ITDS and the ASA Midwest Tour is the perfect combination.

Interstate Truck Driving School and the ASA Midwest Tour share the same level of commitment and desire to help their drivers succeed. “Bill Collins (ITDS owner) is a racer himself. He knows what it takes to make these cars and trucks go-round. He’s passionate about helping the Truck Tour and all of the ASAMT divisions succeed and his support of the new television package for the Trucks is a great example. We are happy to have him on board,” said Tim Olson, ASAMT President.

ITDS is one of only three private truck driving schools in Minnesota. The company surpasses the competition in the number of students trained each year and has maintained a perfect DOT safety record for the past twelve years; a claim their competitors cannot make. Collins takes pride in the service and personalized instruction his school offers. It is this shared level of commitment and quality that will continue to drive the relationship between ITDS and the ASAMT now and in the future.

“The ASA Midwest Tour has done an outstanding job with the growth of their series. They have taken their time and built the Tour slowly and do an extremely good job at promoting their series, the racers, and most of all, the sponsors. With the addition of the ASA Midwest Truck Tour, I just knew that the demographic I was looking for was exactly what they had to offer. We are very excited to get the season started and to work with all of the additional organizations associated with the ASAMT,” stated an enthusiastic Collins.

ASA Midwest Tour Vice President, Steve Einhaus noted that the addition of ITDS as a new marketing partner with the ASAMT is a step in the right direction for everyone involved. “The two demographics work perfectly together and Mr. Collins was very impressed with the amount of potential customers that we can drive towards his business. We look forward to a long term relationship with everyone over at ITDS.”

The ASAMT, along with ITDS are thrilled to announce that three Truck division events will be televised in 2010 on Fox Sports North and Fox Sports Wisconsin, reaching over four million households. Televised events will include Madison International Speedway, Elko Speedway, and Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway for the 41st annual Oktoberfest.
