How Do I Enroll?
At the Exam Station

1.     The first step is to obtain your Class B or Class A permit by passing the written tests required by the State of Minnesota.   Study the state CDL manual (available at www.mndriveinfo.org ) and take your test at a state exam station.

2.     Then the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires a drug test before you can drive any commercial vehicle.  Please visit our office to obtain a drug screen or call us at 651-735-9250 for more information on the drug test. Click here to learn more about this requirement.

3.     After you have your permit and the results from your drug test have been received in our office we can schedule your training/test appointment.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday (other than state holidays).

4.     Some of our training programs include practice at our facility in Inver Grove Heights.  This training is to prepare you for your road test.

  1. When you have received your preliminary training and are ready for your road test, one of our instructors will then meet you at one of the Department of Public Safety Exam Stations in the metro area for a one or two hour training session followed by the road test.  We have trucks and instructors available at the South Metro Exam station in Eagan and the West Metro exam station in Plymouth for both training and testing. The training is conducted in the area around the exam station so you will have some idea of what to expect on your road test.  Currently we do not offer testing at the North Metro Exam Station in Arden Hills because we do not feel that the tests at that location are consistent.
  2. For students taking a comprehensive training program you will be scheduled for additional training at our facility once you have passed the state CDL road test.  If you have trouble passing the road test we will provide you additional training to help you to pass the test before you go on to your next phase of training.
