Rules change all the time. And no industry is more in tune with it’s own rules than the Truck Driving Industry. The Hours of Service of Drivers Final Rule Download PDF Version was published in the Federal Register on December 27, 2011. The effective date of the Final Rule was February 27, 2012, and the compliance date of selected provisions is July 1, 2013, which is only days away. Meaning, there will be some new Hour Of Service Rules that you are going to need to know to ensure that you stay on the road legally.
Check out the rest of the article to see what the new rules are.
We had two 160 hour graduates that were willing to write down what they thought of the school and their training. Both Bobby and Mark are ready to become truck drivers, and we are very proud of them. Check out what they had to say about Interstate Truck Driving School below. (more…)
Mike Kellis from Werner Transportation will be here in our office to visit with new drivers. Werner is one of the few trucking companies that have paperless logs approved by the Federal Dept of Transportation. This is a great opportunity to meet with a representative from Werner to get all of your questions answered. Job applications for Werner will be accepted prior to enrolling in class.
Werner will then get back to you to let you know if they will offer you a job. After you get a positive response from Werner you can sign up for our 160 hour Professional Tractor Trailer Training Program and get started on your training. You can finish up in as little as 3 weeks and then head off to Werner and get to work!
David S. took Interstate’s 160 Hour Professional Tractor Trailer Program and is driving over the road with Werner Enterprises.
A recruiter from Dedicated Logistics Inc will be at our South St Paul location.
“At Dedicated Logistics, Inc. (DLI), we pride ourselves on being leaders in providing tailored, technology-driven freight transportation solutions that help our customers achieve a competitive advantage, both locally and nationally.
DLI was founded in 1995 with a goal of elevating the integrity of the trucking industry by developing solutions that are equal parts common business sense and advanced technologies. We have worked very hard to achieve this goal as evidenced by several significant accomplishments. DLI was the first company in the industry to provide real-time shipment updates. We were the first to create shared accounts for multiple businesses, and the first to redefine fleet management by using GPS technology to integrate fleet operations for multiple customers.”
A recruiter from the food distribution company McLANE will be at our South St Paul office. This is a great opportunity for students and non-students to come and ask the recruiter anything about the truck driving industry.
“Since our 1894 founding in Cameron, Texas, McLane has been through many changes. One aspect that has not changed is our beliefs and values.
Our founder, Robert McLane, felt deeply that business should be based on honesty, integrity and high Christian principles. These beliefs and values are the principles that guide our relationships with customers, teammates and shareholders.
Over 100 years later, we continue to honor these principles in all our day-to-day business relationships.”

Schneider National is one of the countries largest trucking companies. Bryan Schafer from Schneider will be at our south St Paul. For more information call Darrell at 651-707-4672.
“At Schneider, we’re all about doing right by our people. Ask any of them and they’ll tell you, we’re big where it matters and small where it counts. Everyday, our sales force is winning new business, our drivers are impressing our customers with record service levels and we’re keeping our promise to deliver great careers to the best people in the industry.”
For 74 years, we have remained true to our core values and have made decisions that lead both our business as a whole and our individual associates forward.
When you have the best people, you get the best results. That’s what Schneider is all about.
There is no truck driver on the road today more recognizable than the one behind the wheel of a Schneider tractor-trailer. For the last 75 years, we’ve employed the best the industry has to offer, hands down – the safest, most respected and seasoned group of truck drivers out there.
95% of our fleet are experienced truck driving professionals — 1,807 with a million or more accident-free miles under their belts. Another 2,324 experienced truck drivers joined us this year — and nearly a thousand of them came back after trying other companies.
Whatever you’re looking for, Schneider delivers.
All drivers are not created equal. By being big where it matters and small where it counts, Schneider is able to offer several types of driving careers to suit your needs and exceed your expectations. This year 75% of our drivers will get home weekly. That’s huge. It means you’ll get the miles you need and get home more often.
To celebrate May which is also Zombie Awareness Month, we thought it would be good to inform all truck drivers about the danger of zombies. The Mirror posted a article about a 19 year old male who is being accused of stealing a semi-truck and crashing it into several cars, injuring seven people. What’s the reason? He told police he was trying to flee ZOMBIES. Yes, zombies. Check out the rest of the article by clicking the link. (more…)
DART Trucking will be visiting Interstate Truck Driving School’s St. Paul location.
Dart Transit has a reputation as America’s top carrier for independent contractors. You can contract with Dart with confidence, knowing that it is a company that operates with integrity and professionalism. The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and Carriers Edge identified carriers with the strongest over-all programs for drivers and owner operators, and ranked Dart among the best carriers for professional drivers. Dart topped the field in 2010 as the Best Fleet for Owner Operators, and won “Best Fleets to Drive For” in 2009, 2010 and again in 2011.
According to the TCA, the strength of Dart’s contractor support programs encourages owner operator success – something we have known for years.
It starts with offering contract choices that allow you to pick an owner operator driving option that meets your individual needs.

We just had two students graduate from the 160 Hour Professional Tractor Trailer Program. Which means that these two guys are no longer students, they’re truck drivers, and proud to be so. Here’s what they had to say about their training at Interstate Truck Driving School.
Ken. W from Lino Lakes MN, is going to be driving with Stevens Transport out of Texas.
“The driver training I received was outstanding! The instructors were polite and patient, and were willing to wait til I was comfortable before proceeding to the following stages in the training process.”
Curt H. from Blaine MN, decided that we wanted to driver for Werner out of Nebraska. He will begin his training with Werner next week.
“Very professional top to bottom. I did the online training which went 100% without a hitch. I would recommend this school to anyone.”
