KARE 11 Report misleading!!!!

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

A report by KARE 11 TV on Tuesday January 27th, 2009, was misleading in our opinion.  The report clearly stated the demand for truck driver had increased lately.  That is not true!

There are still job opportunities for new drivers that have taken formal training.  But, the trucking companies are not hiring as many people as they did a year ago, or six months ago. Or any time in the last 20 years.

Trucking companies are being more selective.  They will not longer accept people that have had DWIs in the past.  As little as six months ago they would overlook such mistakes if they were 10 years old, some companies would accept drivers with a DWI as little as five years prior.  NOT NOW!

Only drivers will almost perfect records are getting hired now (January of 2009).  We have job applications for several trucking companies in our office and we welcome you to come in and apply for a driving position before you start your training with us.  It is normal in this industry to make sure you have a job waiting before you commit to an extensive training program.

We did send an email to KARE 11 asking them to air a clarification about this issue but to our knowledge that have not done so.  Please post your comments and questions to this blog and we will reply as soon as possible.

J.S. of Farmington is heading to T.M.C. in DesMoines after completing his Professional Tractor Trailer Training Program.

“The training I received at Interstate Truck Driving School was top notch.  I had no experience with a tractor-trailer before I started this course and now my confidence is stronger and I do not feel as intimidated as when I started.”

We know J.S. will do very well at T.M.C. with his military experience and we look forward to him stoping by with one of those great looking Trucks.

S. O. drove all the way down from Bemidji to attend our school in South St. Paul.  Now that’s dedication.

Interstate Truck Driving School was recommended to me by a past student.  It was a positive and valuable experience for a guy who had never been in a tractor-trailer rig.  I will also recommend this school to others.  The staff was great.  Big thanks to Big Jon for his patience.

Thanks S. O., we hope to see more of your friends from the Range.

Truck Driving School Testimonial

J. & G. T. from Hinkley took their training together so they could team drive with Werner.  They were great to work with and had these comments:

“We want to thank all of you for the individual attention you had given to the both of us.  The school was a wonderful learning experience and we are looking forward to going to work with Werner as a Team.  This would not have been possible if not for your patience and support.  Thank you!”

We thank them for the nice evaluation.  We are very pleased they felt they received the individual instruction they were looking for.  That is the basis of our training, to determine the needs of each student and then provide an environment tailored to that individual.

    B. R. from Maple Grove finished up his Professional Tractor Trailer Training Program and is heading off to Roehl in Marshfield, WI.

This was a good system for learning at a pace that was comfortable to me.  I liked the variety of trucks and transmissions to practice on.  The textbook was easy to read and informative.  Overall, I felt this course has prepared me well for a trucking career.

Thanks, B. R.  It is our goal to challenge students to learn at a level that provides them the opportunity to learn but does not tax them so much they get stressed out.  We are the only truck driving school that has the flexibility to provide that kind of training.  Good luck at Roehl and please stop by whenever you are in the neighborhood.
