ITDS at World Racing League at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course

Interstate Truck Driving School owner Bill Collins teamed with Matt Peterson and his Braunschweig Racing Team Corvette to win the eight hour endurance race with the World Racing League at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course this past Sunday.

Along with Bill and Matt, co-drivers included Casimir Sienkiewicz, Glen Kraetsch, and Mike Sitzenstock.  The five drivers battled cold weather and a light snow shower at the start of the race to come out on top with a margin of just 25 seconds over the second place team.  Team leader Matt Peterson took over from Collins with just over 90 minutes to go and brought the car into Victory Lane on fumes as he was running out of gas.

The key to the team's success was excellent preparation and focused driving in trying conditions.  Those same key factors are important in the career of a professional truck driver with proper pretrip inspections and staying alert and focused while driving.

As the teams oldest driver at almost 66 years old, Bill Collins is an example of how driving skills can be maintained as long as people maintain their health. Many of the students that attend Interstate Truck Driving School are in their 60s and even some in their 70s.  Bill hopes his success on the race track gives people confidence in their own abilities to achieve their goals with a career in the trucking industry.
