Class A CDL Practice Permit Tests

Do you want to pass your Minnesota Class A permit test? Then it makes sense to take a class that includes a Class A CDL practice permit test* to get ready for the real thing. You should you also take a CDL permit practice test* when preparing for your Class B permit. The point of the practice CDL test* is not just to help test your knowledge, but also to help you be more relaxed when you take your actual test. This will help you think more clearly and get better test results. What kind of Commercial Drivers License (CDL) do you need?

U. S. Dept. of Transportation and Minnesota requirements state that if your vehicle is a combination towing a unit with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,001 pounds or more then you need a Class A CDL license.

If you're driving a single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more then you need a Class B CDL license.

CDL Permit Practice Test Class

One of the first steps in this process is passing your CDL permit test so you can get your CDL permit. We highly recommend study and practice before your take the following tests for your Class B or Class A CDL permit test:

General Knowledge:	50 questions
Air Brake Systems:	30 questions
Pre-Trip:	7 questions

In addition, if you're taking the Minnesota class A drivers test you also need to take the Combination test which consists of 20 questions.

What kinds of things should you know? Here are a few of the topics you might encounter on part of your CDL Class A permit test:

Do you know what 'dovetailing' is?
What should you do when driving at night?
Should you assume that overhead clearance signs are correct? Why or why not?
What if anything should you check on wheel bearing seals?
What is a slack adjuster?

Each of these questions would be in a multiple choice format.

You'll need to get an 80% on each test in order to pass.

So how do you prepare for the test? The old adage about practice, practice, practice only goes so far. You also need to know what you should be practicing.

With over 150 pages in the Minnesota Commercial Driver's Manual there is a tremendous amount of information to sort through and learn. Unless you know what areas to study this can mean a lot of wasted time and memorizing of unimportant information at the expense of the things you really need to know.

We will get you ready for your test but we will not break any rules in the process.
